Can you whisper?

Something I never thought I’d ask the guy who is exactly my type, but completely wrong for me.

Someone I sneak secret glances at from a distance while vowing to never get too close.

And then I get tossed in jail. With him.

Know how forced proximity and extreme panic go together?

They don’t. And the walls I spent a lifetime erecting around me crack, giving him an intimate view of all the secrets I work so hard to protect.

Color me surprised when the pierced, tattooed DJ doesn’t recoil or call me a freak.

Arsen gets me through the night, his attention like a match to my insides, lighting me on fire and making me burn.

Keeping my distance is impossible.

My body begs to be near him, but we just don’t mix.

He’s fire. I’m water.

Sound is his superpower but my kryptonite.

For once in my life, my heart is louder than my head, and I can’t stay away.

But it seems following my heart leads me straight into trouble.

Turns out I’m not the only one who thinks maybe Arsen and I don’t belong together, and the people who agree will go to extremes to make sure we stay apart.

Whisper is a male/male Westbrook Elite standalone novel, a college sports romance.

*Please note this book contains mentions of child abuse and neglect. There is also anxiety, PTSD, and kidnapping. Some listeners may find these things uncomfortable.

Whisper is the 7th book in the Westbrook Elite series. These books could be read as standalones, but I like reading them in order because you see other characters from this series in this book. This book is about Prism and Arson and is told from both of their points of view.

Prism and Arson have been sneaking secret glances at each other for a while now. When something happens at the night club Arson is working at and they end up in a closet together. The cops bust in and find something they shouldn't so the two end up locked up together for the night. As they are together they start to fall for each other.

Throughout this book their relationship grows, they end up in jail again and secrets come out about one of the guys family, and the other ones last name. This can case issues with their relationship. Prism has had a rough past and he's not sure if he can trust Arson.

This book had some twists I wasn't expecting, and I loved seeing the other characters from the past books. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series, and when the series is finished, I'm excited for a relisten to the whole series!

It is always great to be back in Cambria Hebert’s “Westbrook Elite” world again to spend time with the fabulous characters of the Elite swim team, who share a camaraderie like no other. After meeting Prism, a member of the Elite swim team, I have been looking forward to get to know him, and his backstory was not one I was expecting. I loved his bond with Ben Kruger, who was overly protective of him, and rightfully so. Arsen, a spinner of music, the DJ for parties on campus, a party Prism was at when they caught each other’s eye. When the police raid the place to shut down the party, Arsen and Prism, wind up in trouble with the law together. Arsen read Prism, picking up on his vulnerabilities and tried to keep him calm and grounded, out of his own head. Right there and then I knew these two were perfect for one another despite their differences. The chemistry between them was undeniable, and it was great to watch them get to know each other and see their relationship morph into something so much more. This is a beautiful love story, but when Prism’s past comes back to haunt him, it complicates matters for them. I loved all the layers of the story and how it all played out, with a perfect balance of drama, angst, some charming moments, some gut-wrenching moments, heartfelt emotions, and a swoon worthy romance. I also loved how the elite back each other up and how they embraced Prism in his time of need, and it was a big moment when Prism realized they were there for him, and what they were to him, his family. As always, the writing, plot and world building are incredible, as are the character growth and development. Cambria Hebert, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Lance West and Lance Isley did a wonderful job bringing these characters to life, giving each their own unique voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who was who. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters would sound. They delivered a perfect portrayal of each character, grasping all aspects of their personality, as well as their every emotion, having you feel them all. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their captivating performance keeps you glue to the story.

Arsen and Matthew

The narrators did a great job. I enjoyed listening to Arsen and Matthew. These two meet when a party Arsen is DJing for gets raided and these two end up hiding in a closet. This is an insta-love story with a lot going on. Matthew has some issues and I love how Arsen notices right away and is helping him right away. As always you get the whole elite clan when things get heavy.

Love It

Whisper is book 7 in the Westbrook Elite series. It’s a M/M, sports romance. Man I was really looking forward to Matthew “Prism” and Arson’s book, but it ended up not being my favorite. My heart went out to Prism as he battled his demons and at times I liked how protective Arson was with him. It was a fast paced story with instant attraction, but it didn’t feel believable to me.

Lance West and Lance Isley did a nice job with narrating this book. Their portrayal made the book interesting.

Not my favorite.

Wowsa. That was intense, but insanely good. I have always adored Prism, but this book had me falling so hard for him. And Arsen, oh Arsen. My protective, dominant caveman 🫠 he was fantastic and his relationship with Kruger was a very close second favorite pairing in this book. Their enemies to brothers friendship was so perfect.

I know next to nothing about misophonia and tinnitus, but from what I do know, I loved how Cambria wrote this story. The way she portrayed his anxiety and how he dealt with these disorders was heartbreaking and wonderful and gave me all the feelings. I really loved it.

Arsen took a hot minute to fit in with Elite. He was brash and overprotective and butted heads for a bit, but I knew from the start he was going to end up fantastic friends with them. He was practically all of them combined, there was no way he wouldn't.

The found family was strong in this one and had me a bit teary. The only thing missing from this story was Arsen's parents bring Prism in and showing him exactly how a father should act. I need it in a bonus scene pleaseandthankyou.

Next up has me foaming at the mouth for more. Gimme gimme gimme.

I was able to reread this one via audio (big thank you to Pink Flamingo for the copy!) and it was even better the second time around. I loved Lance Isley and Lance West and the way they brought these characters to life and I loved this listen.

Whisper is the seventh book in The Westbrook Elite series. This book can be read as a standalone but is more enjoyable in order. This is Prism and Arsen's book. Prism and Arsen end up in jail together when the party Arsen is DJ'ing at gets raided. This is somewhat of an insta-love MM romance. I love these two characters. I always love seeing the rest of the Westbrook Elite crew.

Lance West and Lance Isley did a fantastic job narrating this book.

This story just blew me away!
Prism and Arsen story.
Arsen the ever so confident, strong, sarcastic but caring man only had eyes for Prism.
He was his protector, he learned all about his tragic upbringing, disabilities, anxieties to understand him better .
Prism’s insecurities, doubts, moments of anxiety, always was softened whenever Arsen would whisper words of encouragement, love, endearments to soothe him.
Beautiful story of love, trust, but it’s not without challenges, and danger.
Prism learned that in the end he was really loved not only by Arsen but by all the Elites. He had found that they accepted him for himself.
The story told by Lance West and Lance Isley was so emotional.
Their performance was phenomenal. They brought life to the different characters voices and personalities. Very well done.

Emotional journey

I have never read or listened to a book quite like this one. Arsen and Prism were both lovable characters. Arsen was just so understanding and accepting of Prism and all of his mental challenges. If only people could be more like Arsen in real life. Misophonia was something I had never heard of before so it was interesting to learn a little about this diagnosis. I love books like this that give me a better understanding of what other people deal with. I think it makes me less judgemental of others. While Whisper is part of a series with interconnected characters, it is a standalone. Lance West and Lance Isley both did an excellent job bringing this story to life.

So right off, I share Matthew’s diagnoses of misophonia and tinnitus (in addition to more, but those two are the confirmed ones he has). While my experience isn’t the same, I wouldn’t expect them to be. I appreciated the representation and care given to this, and to Matthew. What a wonderful character he is! My heart just broke for him, repeatedly, and yet!! I was so proud of him for his resiliency, strength, and compassion.

Arsen was also a fantastic character. I loved how he was with Matthew, even his OTT possessiveness. I think Matthew needed to know he was wanted by someone that much. That he was worthy of it.

This was my first book in the series, so the amount of secondary characters and associated info was a little overwhelming. Makes sense, since this is book seven. I enjoyed the found family aspect immensely. The plot was fairly original and kept me interested throughout.

I will say I had to suspend belief when it came to anything related to police procedure. But, that is the beauty of fiction!

The audiobook was also well done. Both narrators did a good job with pacing, variation in character voices, inflection, and emotion.

Loved

I absolutely love everything about this story. It’s one of my all-time favorite comfort reads. I just finished the newly released audiobook, narrated by Lance West and Lance Isley. Though I hadn’t listened to either narrator before, I was thoroughly impressed by their performance. They brought Arsen and Prism’s story to life beautifully!

Flawless Story, Fantastic Narration
