Bridger Payne is an enigma that no one can figure out. Wise beyond his years, eerily intuitive, and sexy as hell, every woman in The Silo wants him.
None can have him.
Not the real man, anyway.
He might wield the lash for you if you ask prettily, but he'll get no gratification from it. He'll definitely make you scream, but he won't think twice about you when he walks away.
Bridger carries the darkest of secrets. He's filled with too much pain.
He's utterly untouchable.
Until she came along.

A bit too dark

In this book Bridger is dissatisfied with his life - he's seen all four of his friends find peace, contentment and love and, although he knows that's never going to be him, he yearns for something unknown and just out of reach. He's damaged, haunted and tormented by horrific child abuse which has left him with numerous 'triggers', demands and restrictions on sexual activities and emotionally alienates himself from the act. But when an acquaintance leaves an unconscious, beaten and tortured woman in his care little does Bridger know that she'll be his salvation and the key to unlocking his lifeless heart.
Maggie was a rebellious teen - but years later she's still paying for it - because she's just been rescued from purgatory - a two year purgatory at the hands of a mean and vicious biker President and his Old Lady who each made her life a living Hell in different ways. She feels safe now in Bridger's house - he's moody, sexy, handsome as sin and all Alpha - but how long will it last because Bridger talks about an end date, the MC are relentlessly looking for her and, now that they're lovers, how safe is her heart?
As with all of Sawyer Bennett's books there's sizzling chemistry, smokin hot sex and loveable multi-layered characters and this one's no exception but your heart breaks for the emotional torment that Bridger faces as he mentally wars with the demons of his past in order to get a future with Maggie. This is an emotion-fuelled romance as a very understanding and loving Maggie tries to slate the demons that haunt Bridger's past... while Bridger tries to keep Maggie safe from the flesh and blood ones that aim to kill her. Dual POV's, there's well loved faces from the previous books and flawless narration.
Worth a credit? It's hot, it's heavy, it's sweet as well as raw, it's got angst, drama and a loveable but damaged Alpha Hero... and it's been an addictive and beautiful listen too to see two damaged souls save each other - so HELL YES creditworthy. And it's with a heavy heart that I have to say adieu to a series whose characters I've loved, whose stories have held me riveted and whose flawed, kinky and possessive Alphas have each left his mark... not on my flesh but on my heart.
THE FIFTH & FINAL... & WOW WHAT AN EMOTIONAL STORY

The male narrator really had Bridger's voice and intonations down pat. So happy it didn't change from other books in the series.
Loved it! Hope we get more stories of the sort. Maybe Ted's story? Not ready to let go...
Loved it!!!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Wicked Bond to be better than the print version?
I didn't read the print version first so I couldn't say. I started this series via audiobook and enjoyed the performances of both Kirsten Leigh (5 stars) and Lee Samuels (4.5 stars) so much that I had to read it in this format for the entirety of the series.Who was your favorite character and why?
Bridger because he was survivor.Which scene was your favorite?
The advice scene with Bridger and Adrian was one of my favorite scenes that comes to mind now several days later after I've read it.Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
There were definitely plenty of moments that sparked a strong response.Any additional comments?
It was probably the most fascinating tale in the Wicked Horse series. Bridger's backstory was heavy, tragic and disheartening. Maggie's recent trauma was mind-blowing. I was disgusted by the actions of the monsters in each of their lives. But Bridger and Maggie healed each other, and I loved how they banded together to protect someone even more vulnerable and very precious. An excellent conclusion to a fascinating series!

I had previously read Wicked Bond before I listened to the audiobook and I was conflicted. On one hand, to me, it was a good contemporary romance and was a satisfactory conclusion to the series. But on the other hand I was expecting so much more from Bridger's story and found it rather tame. I do feel though that this is a reflection of me and my personal preferences for Bridger's story.
But I am a person who predominately listens to audiobooks and I found that the audio version did actually enhance my enjoyment of this book (over reading it). Kristen Leigh and Lee Samuels are excellent narrators who speak clearly and confidently and they brought drama and feeling to the story.
So overall a great listen and an excellent way to end the series. I can't wait for more from Sawyer Bennett!!!
