About this listen

We are lords over a savage land.

— Gabriel —

It’s my senior year at the Asylum. After this, it’s either college or padded walls for life.
They say fake it until you make it, and I’ve gotten really good at faking it.
Well, I was really good, until she came along.
A blonde transfer student with a sharp tongue and a superiority complex makes me want to see her insides.
They call me a sociopath, a maniac, unbalanced.
But here, I am king.
Repent your sins and beg forgiveness, baby girl.
Prayers won’t save you from me.

— Avery —

I never expected my parents to deliver me to this hellscape.
They want this place to cure me, to make me into a good girl, to save me from starvation.
An arrogant creep with dead eyes made me his target instead.
He’s sick and twisted, and I’m tired of his games.
He says he’ll stop if I go with him to the basement, to the place forbidden and kept under lock and key.
Everyone knows, though, you don’t go down there and come out alive.

Author's Note: Wicked Vile King is recommended for those 18+. It features mature themes including, but not limited to, an explosive heat level, bullying, and, like my other novels, struggles with mental illness.

This book is the second of three standalone novels in the Godless Heathens universe, each of which takes place at Chryseum Reformatory Academy and features one of the three lords of the Academy (Saint, Gabriel, and Killian). Listening to the other books in the series, although recommended, is not necessary to enjoy this book.

Please read the content/trigger warnings carefully before reading, available either through the Look-Inside feature or on my website (linked on my Amazon author page and TBA soon).

oh yeah!

I've previously demolished reading the ebook version, so naturally I needed to listen to the audio as well.
Loved it the first time and loved it the second time.
Looking forward for the third book in audio as well.

I love this book even more on audio!

I absolutely loved the Godless Heathens trilogy and was so excited to see it come to audio! I loved Gabe even more on audio and he just might be my new favorite (sorry, Saint). I had so much empathy for Gabe and could feel how broken he was, how much he needed Avery to quiet the noise, and how Avery needed Gabe's darkness just the same. Everything was about control and self-worth for the two of them, Gabe with his compulsions with fire and Avery with her food.

I loved how Gabe cared for Avery and how protective and possessive he was. It takes one broken person to understand another and that's what these two were, two broken souls who found exactly what they needed in each other. I loved how Gabe helped Avery see herself for what she truly was and the moment she discovered that was absolutely breathtaking.

I loved the push and pull, the give and take, all the resistance surrendering to the undeniable connection between them. I felt so many emotions with this book as it resonated with me on a highly personal level, pushing my comfort zone while infusing the story with hope for moving forward. The writing was outstanding, the story was captivating and the narration was totally on point, Gideon as the morally grey MMC with a heart of gold and Kasi as his "firefly" who challenged him and wasn't afraid to stand up for herself. It was simply incredible and I cannot wait for Killian's story to release to audio next!

Wow!

Lord have mercy that Gabe is twisted ! Avery is just a ball of torment. These two were destined to be with each other both unhinged by their family and their circumstances. I enjoyed following their dark story . The narrators were awesome and did an amazing job with these characters .

Good to be back at Chryseum

I loved how the narrators brought this story to life as we go back for more at Chryseum Academy. I loved this book the first time around, and listening to it made me love it even more. I loved how Gabe definitely fell first and hardest, but worked so hard to help Avery battle her demons before he even worried about her liking him. It was good to see Saint and Willow, and I can't wait to listen to Kil's story too!
