Andrew Dickson is an author, journalist and critic. A former arts editor at the Guardian in London, he writes regularly for the paper and appears as a presenter for the BBC and elsewhere. His new book, Worlds Elsewhere: Journeys Around Shakespeare's Globe, which tracks Shakespeare's global influence, was published in the UK by Bodley Head/Vintage in late 2015, and will be out in the US by Henry Holt in April 2016. Writing in the New Statesman, novelist Margaret Drabble called it "an extraordinarily exhilarating book, like no other Shakespeare criticism you have ever read", while in the Observer Anthony Holden described it as "strikingly original, engagingly idiosyncratic … a substantial new contribution to Shakespeare scholarship". Andrew grew up in Yorkshire, and studied English at Cambridge University, later returning to take an MPhil in Renaissance literature. He has contributed to the New Cambridge Companion to Shakespeare, is currently an honorary fellow at Birkbeck, University of London and a former visiting fellow at the University of Warwick. He lives in London, and blogs about his journeys at worldselsewhere.com.
