Arianne Cousteau is a history buff who prides herself on being an amateur historian. Her maternal ancestors migrated to the U.S. from Scotland sometime in the early 1800s, and her paternal grandparents cam from Europe to the U.S. in the late 1920s. Families of her Scottish ancestors settled in Appalachia and served in the American Civil War on both sides, the north and the south effectively splitting the extended family in two for generations. During WWII, Arianne's father served in the US Army Air Corps. Arianne is a retired antique furniture broker and small business owner. She has shared her business acumen to help other women launch their own businesses. Her natural curiosity about human behavior and accomplishment is what drives her interest in the role of women in all aspects of science, politics, sports, business and the arts, particularly women who have inspired others to be brave, to live life to its fullest, and to embrace the challenges of life in whatever era we find ourselves. When not visiting family in California and Europe, Cousteau splits her time between Chicago and the wilderness of northern Michigan and Canada. You can contact Arianne at ariannecousteau@gmail.com.
