Bill Janovitz was born in New York in 1966 and has been located in the Boston area since 1982. Bill is a founding member of the band Buffalo Tom, who formed at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1986 and have released eight albums, plus various compilations and singles. He started writing about music for allmusic.com and his first book was called Exile on Main St., about the Rolling Stones album of the same name, published by Bloomsbury in 2005. In July 2013, St, Martin's Press published Rocks Off: 50 Tracks That Tell the Story of the Rolling Stones, just in time for the band's 50th anniversary tour. Leon Russell: The Master of Space and Time's Journey Through Rock & Roll History, the definitive biography of Russell, is being published March 14, 2023 by Hachette Books.
