Bobette Buster grew up in Kentucky, in a region renowned for its great storytellers. She cultivated a passion for storytelling while producing an oral history of the area, a collection now archived at the Kentucky Museum. She then moved to Hollywood to learn the art, craft and business of script development. She is the author of Do Story: How to tell your story so the world listens (2013) and Do Listen: Understand what's really being said. Find a new way forward (2018). In 2019, she gave a TED talk entitled, The Radical Act of Storytelling. She is the writer/producer of the critically-acclaimed feature documentary, Making Waves: The Art of Cinematic Sound that premiered at Cannes, Tribeca and the BFI London Film Festivals in 2019. She is a story consultant to leading production companies and major studios including Pixar, Disney and Sony Animation, as well as global non-profits, advertising and marketing agencies. Bobette also leads storytelling workshops around the world. An Adjunct Professor from 1992, she created the first MFA course for Feature Film Development at USC. Bobette is currently Professor of the Practice of Digital Storytelling at Northeastern University in Boston, and on the Guest Faculty of Catholic University of Milan. She lives in Los Angeles, California.
