C. Bailey Sims was born in California and as a teenager moved to the Colorado Rockies, where she attended a very small high school, learned how to ski race, ride a horse, mountain climb, and target shoot at tin cans. She now lives with her family in the much tamer but equally beautiful hills of Connectict in a very creative household of artists and musicians. Her first published book, Candlewax, won the Tassy Walden Award for New Voices in Children's Literature in the YA category. C. Bailey Sims loves to read all kinds of children's and YA literature and believes that some of the best writers of our time are writing for kids. Her favorite children's classic is The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Growing up she thrived on mysteries, and she still loves legal thrillers, fantasy and Sci Fi. Another favorite classic is Frank Herbert's Dune. If she could have a fantasy dinner party, she would invite authors (J.K. Rowling and Neil Gaiman would be high on the list), comedians, a scientist or two (maybe an astro physicist or an environmentalist/conservationist) and some musicians.
