South Carolinian Carla Damron is a fiction writer and social worker. Her latest novel, THE ORCHID TATTOO, crime fiction about human trafficking, won the winter PenCraft award for literary excellence, 2023. She's also the author of THE STONE NECKLACE, which won the WFWA Star Award for best novel. Damron also authors the Caleb Knowles mystery novels, including Keeping Silent, Spider Blue, and Death in Zooville. In each, she explores social issues like addiction, homelessness, and mental illness. Her short stories have appeared in Fall Lines, Six Minute Magazine, Melusine, In Posse Review, and other journals. In 2014, she was named the South Carolina Social Worker of the Year, and in May, 2017, she was awarded the Pioneer Award by the University of South Carolina College of Social Work for her advocacy on the state and national level.
