A writer of Uruguayan origins, Caro De Robertis is the author of THE PALACE OF EROS, forthcoming from Atira/Primero Sueño Press in August 2024, as well as THE PRESIDENT AND THE FROG, CANTORAS, THE GODS OF TANGO, and more. Their books have been translated into seventeen languages and have received numerous honors, including two Stonewall Book Awards, a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, and the John Dos Passos Prize for Literature, which they were the first openly nonbinary person to receive. De Robertis is also an award-winning translator of Latin American literature, and editor of the anthology RADICAL HOPE: LETTERS OF LOVE AND DISSENT IN DANGEROUS TIMES. In 2022, they were an inaugural Baldwin-Emerson Fellow, gathering oral histories of queer and trans BIPOC elders. Their book drawing on this project, SO MANY STARS: AN ORAL HISTORY OF TRANS, NONBINARY, GENDERQUEER, AND TWO-SPIRIT PEOPLE OF COLOR is forthcoming from Algonquin Books in June 2025. De Robertis is a professor at San Francisco State University, and lives in Oakland, California with their two children.
