Charles Booker is a lifelong Kentuckian, born and raised in Louisville’s West End. Like so many, Charles has had to face a world with the odds stacked against him. From rationing his insulin to being gun survivor, Charles used his pain to fuel a life of service. Charles became the first in his family to graduate from law school, and built a transformative career serving communities at every level of government, including being appointed as a director for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife. In 2018, Charles was elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives, becoming the youngest Black state legislator in nearly 90 years. After building statewide, bipartisan coalitions across Kentucky, Charles launched a historic campaign for U.S. Senate in 2020. Charles has since founded Hood to the Holler, a grassroots organization focused on bridging urban and rural divides to inspire a new wave of political leadership. Upon launching a Senate campaign against Rand Paul, Charles is now poised to be the Democratic nominee in 2022. Charles is a proud husband to his wife Tanesha, and the father to three beautiful daughters.
