Christina Hardyment's interests divide between a fascination with the historical background to our everyday lives – the way we run our homes and bring up our children, and the food we eat - and a love of literary geography: exploring the settings that inspired writers classic and modern. Bringing up four daughters led to the writing of Dream Babies, a historical survey of child-rearing methods from medieval to modern times. She is especially interested in Arthur Ransome and Sir Thomas Malory, and has written literary anthologies on gardens, food and nature-writing. Time off is spent on the River Thames, sailing or punting, and she has just finished Writing the Thames, about the literature of the river.
