D.J. Burr is a licensed psychotherapist, behavioral addiction specialist, author, and speaker on the topics of behavioral addictions and male sexual abuse and assault. He owns ABLE Life Recovery in Seattle, WA. He provides one-on-one and group therapy services to sex/love addicts, codependents, and others who suffer from behavioral addictions. He is a qualified leader in his field and fearless when it comes to talking about difficult topics such as sexual abuse and addiction. He is a survivor and a person in long-term recovery - giving him the ability to empathize with his therapy clients, as well as the listeners to his podcasts Journey On: Men Healing from Sexual Abuse & Assault and Making an Addict. In 2015, D.J. published his memoir, I Just Wanted Love: Recovery of a Codependent, Sex and Love Addict, to rave reviews. His ability to relate makes D.J. one of the most sought-after therapists in Seattle, but he humbly insists he is "perfectly imperfect" like everyone else. He does proclaim proudly, "This is the best work I have ever done." D.J is a man on a mission - to help individuals heal one day at a time. D.J. recently released Love and Joy: Tips, Tools, and a Plan for Dating In Recovery, an ebook for those dating in recovery, based on his own personal and clinical experience. D.J. enjoys writing, watching movies, especially horror/suspense. His favorite band is Nickelback. He listens to 90s R&B everyday. D.J. is also a huge fan of old 80s-90s cartoons like Transformers.
