D.J. Marotta is an Anglican priest who writes, teaches, and ministers in Richmond, VA. He is the founding priest of Redeemer Anglican Church, a thriving parish located in the urban heart of the city. His writing seeks to connect the ancient wisdom of the past with the urgent needs of the present. He is the author of two books: Liturgy in the Wilderness: How the Lord's Prayer Shapes the Imagination of the Church in a Secular Age, Our Church Speaks: An Illustrated Devotional of Saints From Every Era & Place, and co-host of the Our Church Speaks Podcast. He also occasionally writes for Common Good Magazine, the Gospel Coalition, and the Porter’s Gate Worship Project. Dan studied Family Therapy Psychology at the College of William & Mary and received an M.Div from Denver Seminary. He served at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Park Church, and the Falls Church Anglican before planting Redeemer. Dan can’t get enough of pit smoking BBQ, brewing espresso, coaching his kid’s sports teams, and fly fishing in mountain streams. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Rachel, and together they live in the city with their four children and a dog named Scout.
