(see also my author page at www.thormans.org) I was brought up in Milford, Ohio, just to the east of Cincinnati. I am the second youngest of seven children in my family. My father was a general contractor who built homes for many decades. In my youth, I worked for him as a 'gopher', as in: 'go-fer-this' and 'go-fer-that'. I suppose it was this background that inspired my main character's apprenticeship to his father, the miller. I graduated Thomas More College in 1985 with degrees in computer science and mathematics. Always an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy, I had often desired to do some writing of my own in these genres. The high demands of an IT career, familial obligations, and (if I am truthful) more than a modicum of downright procrastination caused me to postpone this dream for many years. In the meanwhile, my amazing wife, Luanne, and I raised two wonderful sons and managed to retire early. I now participate (pre-COVID) in a great variety of enjoyable activities. I attend weekly classes in Sun-Style Tai Chi. I paint miniatures and attempt other crafts with a group at a local center. I belong to a drum circle and a singing group that performs regularly for local retirement homes in the area. My wife and I tutor children in reading at a nearby grade school. These are kids who are a little behind because English isn't the primary language spoken in their homes. It is sponsored by the Anthony Muñoz Foundation. I've been known to join a troop that performs a passion play during the several weeks leading up to Easter. I also enjoy gardening, woodwork, and much more. A few years ago, I awoke one day and decided that it was time to begin my 'Great American Novel'. Five months later, "Mayhem at the Mill" was the result. I found the process of researching and writing a novel to be fascinating and would highly and vociferously recommend it to anyone. I hope you enjoy the results.
