I never really had much ambition in life other than to see Arsenal win the league and to be a published writer. I’m delighted to say that I have seen Arsenal crowned champions (more than once) and now my second ambition is about to come to fruition. Until now the only things I have had published have been short stories and numerous articles in The Gooner (an Arsenal fanzine) and so having a book out there is both petrifying and exhilarating. Some potentially interesting facts (depending on how interesting other people find my life – obviously I find it a source of endless fascination…) include my 1980’s experience of traveling from Streatham to Kathmandu on a bus (a deliberate, rather than a random decision, obviously!) I had my first son in Lewisham and, later having acquired a husband from the corps diplomatique, had the second one in Vienna. As my German only ran to ‘I want coffee and cake without cream, please', I found the birth something of a biological and linguistical struggle. We then moved to New York where I worked at the United Nations. Looking at the world now, I don't think my sojourn there contributed an awful lot to developing world peace and I certainly wasn't cut out to be a diplomat's wife and ties were soon severed with both institutions. I then spent some years in South London as a parenting practitioner and now my husband and I are happily retired in rural Suffolk.
