"Between the intoxicating development of the characters that drew me in and made me want to be part of their lives, and the fantastic descriptions of the settings that painted pictures so vivid that I was transported to another place and time...I was captivated." (Reader review). Hello and welcome to my Amazon page! My publisher calls me "the author who often writes with a parrot on each shoulder." That's because my Conure kids, Marley Bob and Smokey Bob (aka the "Brothers Bob") are my near-constant companions. They were with me through the completion of my 1930's-era, historical romance "Heart Tide" series that readers have called "a majestic journey," "captivating with twists and turns," "the best book I've read since 'The Help,'" "a book that captures the reader's mind and heart" and "one I'd love to see made into a movie." I really hope you'll read and agree! And that you'll enjoy my books as much as I enjoyed writing them for you. Book 1 is "Watching the Water" and Book 2 is "Seeking the Shore." I would not call them stand alone titles. Best to read them in order as Book 1 is a cliff hanger. Since the release of Book 1, I've had the honor of appearing at author events presented at the Georgia Romance Writers Moonlight and Magnolias conference, the Romantic Times Booklovers Convention, the Atlanta Journal Constitution Decatur Book Festival, and the Southeastern Independent Booksellers Association (SIBA) Discovery Show. Originally, though, I'm a Chesapeake Bay girl born in Aberdeen, Maryland. I then became an Appalachian Girl when my family moved to Bristol, Tennessee where I graduated from Tennessee High. I now live in the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains, a proud resident of the rural community of “Ducktown," which is close enough to Atlanta to enjoy it, and far enough away to ignore it. Widowed from the love of my life, John, in July 2015, I strive to carry on as he would want me to, which includes writing and enjoying time with our two sons and other close-knit family, my supportive circle of gal pals, and my menagerie of pets. I hold a B.S. degree in Journalism from East Tennessee State University where I wrote for the university newspaper and became a member of Phi Mu sorority. I've been a professional writer for more than 25 years, writing for radio, television, newspaper, websites, and retail and industrial marketing. I've received 10 Excellence in Advertising awards for creative writing and have had my work appear in numerous publications. What's the best thing about writing? It's the chance to pull from the beauty and joy, the ugly and sorrow, and the dreams and devastation of real life and create people who walk them out and triumph. To see an idea as a lump of clay that I'm allowed to sculpt and shape into a world that readers will, hopefully, want to be part of. To embrace an opportunity to inspire, instill hope, and when appropriate, to make people laugh and laugh hard by sharing the lessons learned from my experiences and observations. Thank you for visiting my page!
