Elen is a multidisciplinary artist whose creative portfolio spans photography, styling, interior and garden design, costume design for dance theatre, writing, composing, and film-making. She lives in Brighton, UK, with her husband and two children, and her company, Elensworld, serves as a platform for all her creative projects. Flufflin & The Shooting Star is Elen's first children's story, carrying a deeply personal message for both children and their parents about the importance of following your heart. Elen says, "I firmly believe that children reveal their true interests, passions, and natural talents from an early age. Unfortunately, these innate gifts often get overshadowed by societal pressures, educational systems, and the expectations placed upon them. Whether through judgment of ‘present talent’ or the pursuit of what is deemed more practical or acceptable, many of these early inclinations are pushed aside. Yet, finding joy and meaning in what we do has the potential to create the most profound transformation—not only in ourselves but in everyone around us. When we embrace what we love, we unlock a deeper sense of purpose, fulfilment, and satisfaction. It allows us to live in the world we create—surrounded by people who truly understand us and share in our passions." Growing up in a musical family, Elen was encouraged to see the arts as a hobby, not a career. From a young age, she was consumed by creative expression—redesigning spaces, creating costumes, writing songs, performing, painting, and crafting anything that would evoke emotion and create beauty. But life led her in a different direction. After studying business and systems engineering, she worked for 15 years in legal IT project management, far from her childhood passions. "It took me a long time to get back to who I really was, to allow myself to live the life that was already so clearly apparent when I was only five!" Elen reflects. "I want you and your children to know that no matter how insignificant something they love may seem at the time, if it makes them lost in the process, so absorbed and consumed that they don’t notice the time go by and that they can’t wait to do it again, - listen to it, nurture it, support it, and protect it. It is the most precious declaration of their true essence." And if you too got lost on the way, it is never too late to return home to who you truly are. Three simple questions—ask Flufflin!
