Elizabeth Heineman grew up in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia and now lives in Iowa City. There she teaches History and Gender/Sexuality Studies at the University of Iowa. She's written about German women during and after the Second World War, the erotica industry in postwar West Germany, and sexual violence during armed conflict. Her most recent book is a memoir about her stillbirth, GHOSTBELLY.
