Eugenia is a pastor, author, inspirational speaker and preaching coach. She has served congregations and governing bodies in the PCUSA for 40 years, receiving numerous awards including Outstanding Woman in the community for her work with founding First Light, Inc., a center for homeless women and children in Birmingham Alabama. Her writing has appeared in periodicals including Call to Worship, Presbyterian Outlook, Horizons magazine and others. Her 2020 Bible study, Love Carved in Stone: a Fresh Look at the Ten Commandments won the prestigious Award of Excellence for biblical interpretation from the Associated Church Press. In 2022 she published Words of Love: A Healing Journey with the Ten Commandments, and in 2024 she published Tending the Wild Garden: Growing in the Fruit of the Spirit, both from Westminster/John Knox Press. She and her husband, Rob Phillips, live on Dauphin Island Alabama with their amazing rescue dog Bonnie who has succeeded in rescuing them both. She continues to preach regularly via zoom with Safe Harbor Presbyterian Church in Cambria California and publishes daily devotions through Safe Harbor that are found on FaceBook, Instagram, TikTok and other global platforms.
