Dr. Evelyn Mervine is a geologist, climate change expert, and writer. Originally from New Hampshire, USA, she is now based in Brisbane, Australia. Dr. Mervine has a BA degree in Earth Sciences from Dartmouth College, an MSc degree in Carbon Management from The University of Edinburgh, and a PhD degree in Marine Geology that was jointly awarded by The Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Dr. Mervine is a big Star Trek fan, and her dream job is to work as a geologist for Starfleet. She has not been able to travel the galaxy yet, but she has worked as a geologist all over the world, including in North America, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia. Dr. Mervine enjoys writing about science in a way that is accessible to the general public. Her first book "Rocks & Minerals: An Illustrated Field Guide" was published by Cider Mill Press (an imprint of HarperCollins) in November 2023. In her free time, Dr. Mervine enjoys spending time with her family, kayaking, hiking, knitting, and trying to learn foreign languages.
