During 20 years in the US Navy, Fred spent long periods of time away from home, most of it on submarines, where he developed a great appreciation for the written word. Naval service also gave him an understanding of organization and processes. Because of a busy mind needed some type of relief, Fred began creating what was to become the Britannia Empire in his head. Nine books and counting, the internationally best-selling Prince of Britannia series has been entertaining readers since early 2021. Book 6, Prince Liberator, won the 2024 Immajjin Award for best Science Science Fiction Novel. Fred’s now working on the follow-up series, Heroes of Britannia, the second book, which will be out in January of 2025. His other works include the trilogy, The first Solar War and three anthologies. Ultimately, Fred’s books are about personalities. He tries to create characters people care about, and yes, that does mean that characters you get attached to die. Sorry—it cannot be helped; war sucks. The books include numerous space battles, and Fred makes them as realistic as possible. Creating compelling characters, in my humble opinion, is what sells books and that's what I try to do in all my books and stories. Once created, I let them take over the story line. They're the ones who actually write the books. I just type the words into the computer. I readily admit, I'm simply a ghost writer for them. Fred is now a full-time author and lives with his loving wife, Dundi, in the Dallas area of Texas.
