Freya Jüptner I am – author, instructor, former skipper, border crosser between the worlds of literature, life and responsibility. I don't write fantasy worlds to dream about, but literary mirrors in which our society, our mistakes and our courage can be recognized. My stories don't ask about the happy ending, but about the truth in between. My Path Born in the GDR, trained as a fish farmer, later a professional driver, dispatcher for the railway, investigation service, then switched to first aid training and emergency medicine. For many years I have been working for the German Red Cross, training people, accompanying them in borderline situations and teaching what is most important: overview, responsibility, humanity - first aid. In between, I was a sailing instructor, led skipper trainings and worked with children, families, beginners and professionals. My trip reports show not only manoeuvres and courses, but above all: people in motion. Decisions. Trust. And what it means to lead without ruling. Literature I write fantasy with attitude. My novel series "Magic Crime and Defense" and "Aemilia – Daughter of Victoria" combine mythology, history, social criticism, queer issues and ethical conflicts. My characters are not flawless, but human. They stumble, question, change. They stand for a world in which responsibility means more than power, and truth more than convenience. I tell of people who don't want to submit – and don't have to. I write about violence, but also about dignity. About guilt, but also about hope. And I believe that literature can be a space in which thinking and feeling meet. What drives me I'm a political writer. Not loud, but clear. I write against fascism, against discrimination, against forgetting. My characters are bearers of an attitude that cannot be bent. Whether at sea, in the seminary or on paper, I believe in sincerity. Responsibility. And that stories can change something – in us and around us. And if I don't write or teach? Then I sit by the water with a cup of real black tea with cream in my hand and think. About new characters. Old decisions. And what still needs to be said.
