Hawa Allan is a lawyer and a writer of cultural criticism and fiction whose work has appeared in, among other places, Best African American Essays and Tricycle magazine, where she is a contributing editor. Her short stories have been published in Transition: An International Review, a special fiction issue of the Los Angeles Review of Books, and Printers Row Journal, the Chicago Tribune’s premium literary supplement. She is a graduate of the University of Chicago and Columbia Law School, where she was a fellow at the Center for the Study of Law and Culture.
