J. Eric Smith is a long-time freelance writer with decades worth of print bylines in a variety of alternative newsweeklies, industry trade magazines, daily newspapers, and nonprofit periodicals. Smith was a digital-space pioneer, having launched a still-active and widely-read personal website in 1995. He is an alumnus of the United States Naval Academy and the State University of New York at Albany. After serving with the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, Smith transitioned into the nonprofit sector, eventually holding chief executive roles with four different organizations. He currently lives in Sedona, Arizona, where he works as a writer and nonprofit management advisor/consultant.
