Julie Silver, MD is an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Chief Editor of Books at Harvard Health Publications. Dr. Silver directs all health content officially coming from Harvard Medical School that comes out in books. She is an award-winning author and has edited/written many books that focus on healing. Dr. Silver was diagnosed with cancer in her thirties and after she healed, she developed a special interest in cancer rehabilitation. Her mission is to offer cancer survivors evidence-based cancer rehabilitation services that will help them heal and function as well as possible. She is the founder of Oncology Rehab Partners, LLC, a healthcare company dedicated to helping hospitals and cancer centers develop and implement cancer rehabilitation services through the STAR Program® Certifications. Her work in cancer rehabilitation was recognized by the American Cancer Society in 2006 when she was awarded the prestigious Lane Adams Quality of Life award. In 2010, she was chosen by Massachusetts General Hospital for THE ONE HUNDRED award that is given to 100 people in the United States who are making a significant difference in cancer care. Dr. Silver is currently on the medical staffs of Brigham and Womens, Massachusetts General and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospitals in Boston. Dr. Silver is a frequent guest on national TV shows and is quoted regularly by major newspapers and magazines. She blogs for DoctorOz.com and FreelanceMD.com. She is the mother of three children who have written two award-winning books for the American Cancer Society titled Our Mom is Getting Better and Our Dad is Getting Better.
