J.W. Hawkins is a British writer of epic and dark fantasy, known for taking inspiration from the florid style of 19th century fantasy. Born and raised in Chelmsford, England he lives with his wife Michelle and two little monsters, Graham & Mark. He graduated from the University of Brighton with a degree in Music Composition, which he quickly discovered had all the use of a chocolate teapot. Subsequently, he spent time living in Hong Kong and Taiwan, where he met Michelle and learnt just about passable Mandarin. He has always found himself drawn to the macabre, something that resonates through his work taking the essence of classic fairy tale morality and imbuing it with darkness. Many of his stories are allegories of events in the real world, whether it be large political events such as the Hong Kong Umbrella Revolution (Fall of the Orchid Copse) or personal events from his own life. He blends the real and fantastical to stunning effect.
