Jane Cavalier is a seasoned business leader, brander, market strategist, and board member. She has been involved with creating and launching some of the most exciting and prominent brands of our time including Snapple, Qwest, and AT&T Business, and she has rebranded such leading global companies as Exxon/Esso, Motorola, and Samsung. Jane got her start on Madison Avenue at Doyle Dane Bernbach and went on to build Buckley DeCerchio Cavalier—a creative boutique featured on the cover of the Sunday New York Times as one of the top ten most creative ad agencies in America. As EVP of Strategic Planning at the world’s largest advertising agency, McCann Erickson Worldwide, Jane founded The 14th Floor as McCann’s entrance into brand consulting and pioneered practices that became industry standards. After a meteoric rise on Madison Avenue and years of pushing the envelope to improve corporate performance within the advertising industry, Jane left to start BrightMark Consulting to more broadly apply branding to build value across global enterprises, private companies, government agencies, nonprofits, and new ventures. BrightMark’s clients have included American Express, the U.S. Navy, GE, IBM, Sotheby’s, Boston Children’s Hospital, CamelBak, US Department of State, Havas Worldwide, and iRobot. Jane serves on the boards of the Pardee RAND Graduate School, Nemours Children’s Health System, American Composers Orchestra and Marpai, Inc. (MRAI, Nasdaq). She has taught as an adjunct professor at the Yale School of Management and NYU’s Stern School of Management, and has been a keynote speaker at events and conferences. Along with BrightMark, she publishes a blog with podcasts called Overhead Space that reaches over 75,000 leaders and excecutives each month. Jane is a deep-thinking strategist, rigorous analyst, and an imaginative entrepreneur. Jane grew up surrounded by art which brought enchantment to her early life. Her parents were initially NYC actors. Her father, a lifelong perfect tenor and actor, went on to build a prominent art foundry for bronze sculpture giving Jane exposure to the power of artistic interpretation and impact. She married her high school sweetheart and raised three children as a working mom in a small town in Connecticut. When she is not studying the revolutionizing effects of technology on business, people, and society, she explores the night sky with her telescope, raises chickens in her backyard, and loves kayaking, paddle boarding, boating, hiking, scuba diving, and campfires with friends and family. Now, during a time of momentous cultural changes, spurred in part by the pandemic, global social activism, and climate change, Jane has turned her attention to helping business leaders navigate this new world with her ground-breaking book, The Enchanted Brand: Strengthening the Human Side of Business.
