Jane Congdon's 1,195 miles on the Appalachian Trail inspired her third book, How the WILD EFFECT Turned Me into a Hiker at 69: An Appalachian Trail Adventure. Jane's trip to Transylvania was the inspiration for her first book, It Started with Dracula: The Count, My Mother, and Me. Next, she co-authored her brother's memoir, Mr. Joe: Tales from a Haunted Life. Mr. Joe was a finalist for the 2014 Ohioana Book Award in Nonfiction. In 2019 the WILD EFFECT memoir was an Ohioana Book Award finalist and recipient of a Readers' Favorite 5-star review. All three titles were published by Bettie Youngs Book Publishers. Jane grew up in Glen Ferris, a small town in the mountains of West Virginia. She was an English teacher and a journalist before she became a textbook editor in Cincinnati, Ohio, retiring in 2009. Jane is a member of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, the Transylvanian Society of Dracula, and West Virginia Writers, Inc. Her blog, So Write! can be accessed at www.janecongdon.com. "How I Found My Calling," the story of Jane's career, appears in the anthology Chicken Soup for the Soul: Find Your Happiness.
