Janice Broyles (1974 to present) grew up in Madison Heights, Michigan where her father worked at GM as a union laborer and her mother worked an assortment of housecleaning and bookkeeping jobs. She is the third of four children and is a first generation college graduate from the University of Michigan. With a degree in English and Psychology, Janice earned secondary certification and began to teach high school English and drama classes in the fall of 2000. Since then, Janice has earned two master's degrees, and she completed her doctorate from Central Michigan University. She currently lives in North Carolina with her husband, two sons, and little dog. When she is not writing, she is a learning coach through North Carolina Education Corps.
