Jennifer Carlson is a Professor of Sociology at Arizona State University and a 2022 MacArthur Fellow. She received her Ph.D. in sociology in 2013 from the University of California, Berkeley. Her award-winning research examines American gun culture, policing and public law enforcement, and conservative politics. It has been featured in popular venues like the Washington Post, the Christian Science Monitor, the Los Angeles Times, the BBC, and the Detroit News as well as in scholarly outlets such as the American Journal of Sociology, Social Problems, Gender & Society, British Journal of Criminology, Contexts, Theoretical Criminology, and Feminist Criminology.
