Jerry Grayson joined the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm at the age of 17, the youngest helicopter pilot ever to qualify. He served as a helicopter pilot for 8 years, initially aboard HMS Ark Royal and later as a search and rescue pilot based at RNAS Culdrose, Cornwall. By the age of 25 he was the most decorated peacetime naval pilot in recent history, and was presented with the Air Force Cross by the Queen for outstanding gallantry in search and rescue. He was also awarded the Greek Nautical Medal of Honour amongst many other awards. Since leaving the Navy, Jerry has become one of the film industry’s leading helicopter pilots, designing and shooting as well as flying in aerial action sequences for films including Black Hawk Down and the James Bond movie A View to a Kill. His company Helifilms has filmed footage for hundreds of commercials and documentaries, and Jerry recently directed the IMAX documentary, The Earth Wins. "Rescue Pilot" is Jerry's first book, which is available globally from Amazon in hardback, softback, Kindle and audio book versions. He is currently working on "Film Pilot"; the story of his civilian flying career since leaving the Fleet Air Arm. Jerry now lives in Melbourne, Australia, with his wife and business partner, Sara Hine.
