I retired from the book publishing industry after a career of more than twenty years as managing editor and now devote full time to researching and writing about the Civil War and the American West, usually, though not exclusively, the Indian wars of the post-Civil War period. From time to time I also venture into other fields as the spirit of literary adventure moves me. (articles, essays, and fiction) An example of this latter type of work is "The Day Buford Came Home", a short story that is listed on my author's page and is one of a series set in a small fictional Iowa town. Several such stories have already been written and another is currently in progress. When finished all will be collected in a single anthology to be titled The "Taylorville Chronicles".
