Joan Kuhl is a passionate champion for inclusive and equitable leadership. She is an author, sought-after speaker, thought leader, conference and workshop designer, consultant, MBA, and Corporate advisor with decades of global research and consulting experience. After 14 years in the pharmaceutical industry, including a decade at Eli Lilly, Joan launched Why Millennials Matter/The Kuhl Co. in 2014 as a training, research, and consulting company, leveraging her expertise in gender and generational dynamics in the workplace. Joan designs and facilitates global training for Executive and Managing Director retreats, leadership development programs, talent management discussions, and team-building sessions for international groups across diverse industries. Her research focuses on gender and generational workforce trends in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific regions. Joan works with corporate leadership development teams in global corporations to track the positive impact of her global training programs for women and people managers on retention, engagement, and promotions. Since 2020, over 1100+ multinational employees in 32 countries have participated in her signature program, Stay To Lead, a leadership retention and advancement program facilitated in five time zones. In 2022, Joan launched Talent Accelerator and Ascend: Women In Leadership for High-Potential talent identified as Executive ready which are year long leadership experiences with companion sponsor/direct manager trainings to amplify the impact. Joan was the external project manager for Eli Lilly's Women’s Employee and Minority Employee Journey initiatives (sponsored by the Executive Committee) launched in 2014 designing the learning resources for their internal women's network and men as allies programs while facilitating global activations for the Gender Inclusion Network and hosting the internal Lilly GIN WILL Podcast. Joan's international speaking engagements and consulting have impacted leaders from over 60 countries with clients such as BlackRock, Eli Lilly, Goldman Sachs, Johnson & Johnson, Wellington Management, Sparks, Discovery Communications, Moody’s, FINRA, Novo Nordisk, US Soccer and the NY Mets. She is the author of Girls &: The Ultimate Guide For Empowering A Girl In Your Life (June 2024), Dig Your Heels In: Navigate Corporate BS and Build the Company You Deserve (April 2019) and Misunderstood Millennial Talent (2016). Her expertise has been featured in the NY Times, Harvard Business Review, CNBC, SUCCESS, as well as The Washington Post, and she is a Contributor to ForbesWomen and MSNBC Know Your Value. For the past 20 years, Joan has served on the board of organizations who invest in girls leadership and confidence. She is currently on the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee Women's Initiative. Joan enjoys cheering on the US Women's National Soccer Team with her husband and two daughters.
