Joanne Joe Jung was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. After years as a stay-at-home mom, her return to academia earned her a Masters in Bible Exposition from Talbot School of Theology and, while teaching undergraduates at Biola, a Ph.D. from Fuller Theological Seminary. As Full Professor, she teaches Biblical Interpretation and Spiritual Formation classes and is the Associate Dean of Online Education and Faculty Development at Talbot. Joanne's books include: 1. "Knowing Grace: Cultivating a Lifestyle of Godliness," reflects her desire for others to grow in their knowledge of God's Word and then for that knowledge to be used by God to transform them more into Christ's likeness. 2. "Godly Conversation: rediscovering the Puritan practice of conference," based on her extensive research and study of the English Puritans, uncovers a practice they enjoyed in what one would call small groups. Chapter 7 in "Knowing Grace" is an abridged form of this work. 3. "Character Formation in Online Education: A Guide for Instructors, Administrators, and Accrediting Agencies," offers practical approaches that foster student engagement and effective spiritual transformation in online educational formats. 4. "The Lost Discipline of Conversation: Surprising Lessons in Spiritual Formation Drawn from the English Puritans," draws from her Ph/D studies that connect the English Puritan practice of conference with a variety of modern day small group settings. 5. "The Call to Follow: Hearing Jesus in a Culture Obsessed with Leadership," co-authored with Richard Langer, addresses our leader-crazed culture with a healthy perspective on both leadership and followership in ways that benefit organizations, ministries, families, and one's relationship with God. Joanne and her husband, Norm, are privileged to have four adult children, 2 sons-in-love, and five grandchildren, all of whom are some of her favorite friends.
