John Englander is an oceanographer, multi-book author, and expert speaker on climate change and Sea Level Rise (SLR). He is also a global ocean explorer with expeditions under the polar ice cap, deep dives in research submersibles, 5,000+ SCUBA dives, and visits to Greenland and Antarctica. His mission is to be a clear, apolitical voice on our changing climate and oceans. His best-selling first book, High Tide on Main Street (2012), established John as a leading authority on rising sea level, He translated the latest science from Greenland and Antarctica into practical information for strategic coastal planning and adaptation. His second book, Moving to Higher Ground, Rising Sea Level and the Path Forward (2021), updates the science (SLR is increasing at an increasing rate), and again concludes that excess heat already stored in our oceans guarantees SLR will continue for centuries to come. We have, indeed, passed the tipping point where catastrophic SLR is reversible, and bold adaptation and planning are no longer optional. They are mandatory. And need to begin now. John also publishes a popular weekly blog/newsletter, Sea Level Rise Now, in addition to numerous white papers and media interviews. Subscribe at: www.johnenglander.net His broad marine science background coupled with degrees in Geology and Economics allow him to see the big picture on climate and look ahead to the large scale financial and societal impacts, particularly as they relate to sea level rise. For over 30 years, Englander has been a leader in both the private sector and the non-profit arena, serving as CEO for such noteworthy organizations as The Cousteau Society, The International SeaKeepers Society, and The Underwater Explorers Society (UNEXSO).
