Jon Hunner taught at New Mexico State University from 1995 to 2018. He specialized in 20th century U.S. history and Public History. His books on Atomic History, published by the University of Oklahoma Press, explored the invention of Los Alamos and the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer. He is currently finishing an overview of the history of the United States beginning with when humans first arrived on the continent and finishing with the Moon landings. Hunner drove over 60,000 miles to those places where history actually happened to research this book.
