The Author spent the mid-1970s within the surfing community in the Atlantic Ocean resort of Surf City, New Jersey, serving as a guru and personal advisor to the teenaged locals and tourists. He performed as bass guitarist, vocalist and chief songwriter with the Shore-area outfit The Surf Rats before fronting The Jonnie Comet Band in the 1980s. Influenced by an Anglo-European Christian artistic and academic ethic, the Author is educated in music, art, architecture, yacht design, sailing, flying, physics, philosophy, history, geography, languages and literature. He has held professional capacities as a boatbuilder, warehouseman, purchasing agent, stage technician, customer-service consultant, hardware designer, truck driver, literacy teacher, and performing musician. Jonnie Comet edited 'The Absolutist' (1997-2007), a periodical in the Augustan tradition devoted to the conservation of philosophy and logic in social and academic discourse. His fiction tends to draw upon 18th-century models whilst involving modern, astute characters, exotic or fanciful settings and surreal social conditions. As a single parent he raised two creative daughters, with whom he co-created and produced the original middle-school-age girls’ comedy series 'The Jarmman Show' for cable TV (2000-2001). The Author is available as a motivational consultant in a variety of areas including education, fine & performing arts, business and marketing, yachting, and young people's issues. He lives on a yacht sailing the US east coast. Jonnie Comet fiction includes 'East of the Sun' (1982); 'Jungleland' (1984); 'Best Friends; or: The Babysitter' (1987); 'Love Me Do' (1990); 'The Seduction of Susie' (1994); 'Pamela; or: Virtue Reclaimed' (2000); 'Deirdre, the Wanderer' (2002); 'Gothic Night' (2004); 'The Castle of The Seven Virgins (2010); 'Sylvia; or: The Revenge of The Slave' (2013); … and the 'A Tale of Two Paradises' social-fantasy series.
