"Not all who wander are lost." Juliet Waldron earned a B. A. in English, but has worked at jobs ranging from artist's model to brokerage. Thirty years ago, after the kids left home, she dropped out of 9-5 and began to write, hoping to create a genuine time travel experience for her readers. "Mozart's Wife" won the 1st Independent e-Book Award and still, many years later, garners praise. "My Mozart" is a companion novel, a passionate story of love and madness told by a vulnerable teen fan. "Nightingale" is the romantic story of a prima donna--a bird in a golden cage--in 18th Century Vienna. "Mozart's Wife" took over a decade of research to write. Giddy sugarplum or calculating bitch? Pretty Konstanze aroused strong feelings among her contemporaries. Her in-law's loathed her. Mozart's friends, even forty years after his death, remained eager to gossip about her. She matured from child, to wife, to hard-headed widow, paid her husband's debts, provided for their children, and relentlessly marketed and mythologized her superstar husband--but she never marked his grave. "Genesee", an interracial love story set during the American Revolution, won an Epic Award for Best Historical. In "Angel's Flight," a wealthy Dutch heiress is pursued up the Hudson by a fortune-hunting British major, who is determined to have her--by force if necessary. At the height of the Revolutionary War in New York, her only way home leads her between warring armies, brigands and Indians. A historical romance set in German country, PA, "Hand-me-Down Bride," is based on the immigration story of her great-great grandmother. "Butterfly Bride" is the sequel, where Sophie's little sister, a material girl, confronts the Great Valley--and her patient sister--with a new set of problems. "Red Magic," is a romantic adventure set in 18th Century Austria. It's the story of a spoiled, proud young woman who has to grow up fast when she's forced into a marriage with a man she despises. "Red Magic" has a sequel--"Black Magic," bursting with supernatural adventure, is also set in the Austrian Alps. "Roan Rose" is a medieval novel "owed" to the last Plantagenent King, Richard III, since the day I was introduced to him while reading "The Daughter of Time," more than sixty years ago. Here, the familiar antagonists of York and Lancaster are viewed through the sometimes jaundiced eyes of Rose. Although born a peasant, she serves the heiress, Lady Anne Neville. "The Master Passion," is the story of Alexander Hamilton and his wife, Betsy Schuyler. In some chapters it's another story of "the woman behind the man." It's also the personal story of Hamilton, about the hardships and social prejudices this poor immigrant overcame on his way to the top of the Revolutionary War pantheon, all while fighting inner demons which would, in the end, destroy him. Juliet enjoys her cats, hiking, Qi Gong, and reading non-fiction history and archeology. She gardens for the supper table, but also for the birds and bees. Three granddaughters, all grown, make her proud. Juliet's most recent book is a collaboration with Athabascan native John Wisdomkeeper, "Fly Away Snow Goose." This was inspired by the stories told by Canadian Residential School survivors and by the Tlicho tribe whose ancestral lands are within the Northwest Territory. "Fly Away Snow Goose" is part of the Canadian Historical Bride series published by Books We Love in honor of their nation's 150 anniversary. Juliet's reviews appear on Amazon, Good Reads, B&N, and at the Historical Novel Society's US site and online magazine. She has been a presenter at several past Historical Novel Society conventions.
