“I change the world by teaching and inspiring others to change the world.” Kate Bean has lived her professional life guided by this personal leadership mantra. She has shaped her philosophy by being open to experiences and noticing opportunities that lead to new possibilities and teachable discoveries. Kate’s path as a softball-loving, lesbian, ex-Mormon, passionate educator who became a mother, embracing advocacy for children and pioneering a national movement giving students a voice and choice in their learning, was only the beginning of her inspired story. After serving for sixteen years as the Founder/CEO of Aveson, a non-profit charter school organization defining personalized K-12 public education, Kate embarked on a remarkable exploration to find inspiration for the next chapter in her life. Her cross-country journey through twenty-six states, immersing herself in volunteer work, gave her the opportunity to document incredible stories of shared values, resilience, and the profound power of human connection. She emerged with renewed passion for her life’s work as an academic, author, and advocate, inspiring people to embrace change. This led to a role as a Senior Fellow with the Harvard Advanced Leadership Initiative Program, where Kate embarked on a two-year-long immersion and research project, discovering how people can use change as a vehicle for personal exploration. In 2023, Kate began writing about her experiences and founded iChangeCourse, where she is now committed to helping individuals unlock their true potential by discovering their truth and the power of choice in every moment. “Life has shaped me into a change architect, and my purpose is clear. I guide people through rediscovering, reimagining and rebuilding their lives after change.” ~Kate Follow along with me post-journey on Instagram (@KateBeanJourney) and on LinkedIn (Kate Bean).
