Kate Clancy is the author of Period: The Real Story of Menstruation forthcoming in April 2023 from Princeton University Press. She is a professor of anthropology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she holds appointments in the Department of Gender and Women’s Studies and the Program in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology, and at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology. Clancy has written for National Geographic, Scientific American, and American Scientist and writes a newsletter about science culture and climates, menstruation, uteruses, and how environmental stressors like sexism, racism, harassment, and discrimination impact bodies.
