Kate grew up in Orlando with her parents, brother, dog, and cats. She graduated from Dr. Phillips High School and then studied at the University of South Florida. A week after 9-11, she moved to New York City to attend the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre. In the locker room of that school, she began thinking of Solange and the Alicorn Sword. Kate was twenty, and the story began with Solange’s birth. It took eight years to complete Solange’s adventure from thought to page. While fashioning her debut novel, Kate got her BFA in Theatre Arts and English from Hunter College. She joined Nicu’s Spoon Theatre Company as an actor and playwright—they produced her new adaptations of Rumplestiltskin and Snow White & Rose Red. After twelve years of living in New York City, she moved to Las Vegas and continues to write novels and plays. With the help of the local theatre community, Kate founded KFT Productions and wrote, produced, and directed three of her plays: Frogged, Phin, Hanging in There, The Egg Case, and W.O.O.O. Kate's best play is a new twist on Beauty and The Beast called Vella and The Beast, self published on Amazon in Kindle and Paperback.
