Keira D’Amato has created a buzz in the world of professional athletics by taking the road less traveled. If the normal trajectory for an elite female athlete is to focus on sport first, then have a family, D’Amato upended it: She married her high school sweetheart, had two children, started her career in real estate—and only then returned to running. She refuses to give in to the excuses of “too old” or “too busy,” instead pushing the boundaries of what it means to be a successful runner in today’s world. D’Amato is a three-time USATF National Champion: she claimed titles in the 2021 women’s half-marathon (1:07:55), the 2022 women’s 6K (17:52), and the 2022 20K (1:04:29). In 2022, she shattered a 16-year-old American marathon record with a time of 2:19:12, followed by breaking the American half-marathon record in 2023 with a time of 1:06:39. She also holds the world best time in the women’s-only 10-mile event, finished 8th in the 2022 World Championship Marathon in Eugene, Oregon, and placed 17th at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Her achievements have earned her induction into both the Oakton High School and American University Halls of Fame. D’Amato is passionate about inspiring others—especially mothers—to take their "unfinished business" off the back burner and pursue their goals fearlessly.
