Parents, we live in a society where masculinity is considered “toxic,” where strength and confidence in conversation are decried as “mansplaining,” where men in leadership are degraded and made to believe that their God-given, and gender specific, strengths are either non-existent or great obstacles to be overcome. Our sons are deceived into believing that being a "tough guy" is something to be coveted and that the way to achieve it is by force and intimidation. Leading by example has gone by the wayside. Our sons are lured in by an immature ideology that says to be a man of Principle is for “wusses” and to go against the crowd in the name of Righteousness makes you a “loser.” These lies are damaging our sons and future leaders. This is the real toxicity seeping through our culture and it’s our job as parents to teach our sons the truth about who God made them to be and what it means to be a man of Integrity. We are also seeing an issue with literacy amongst young men and while the reasons for that are many, here are just a few. First, due to intimidation, our culture is lacking in quality literature written with boys in mind. Second, the literature that does exist is often times so politically slanted against them, that they are disinterested. Third, there exists in schools a culture that reading is innately feminine. As both a mother and a witness of the destruction of respectable manhood in America, I wanted to do something to combat these problems. And so, “Monumental Courage” was born. It is my hope that this series will serve as an inspiration to the young men of our future, and while this series is sure to be loved and beneficial for your daughters as well, the audience of primacy is our sons. Today, there stands before them a wall of shame and deception, which needs to be broken down, so they can rise up and be the leaders our families and Nation need them to be. Your son will be inspired by the strength, valor, and sacrifice of the men featured in this series, written for them and their NONtoxic masculinity.
