Kim Hunt is recognized as an Emerging LGBTQIA+ Crime Fiction Writer by US-based Sisters in Crime USA, named one of five runners up in their 2023 Pride Awards. Kim’s debut crime novel, The Beautiful Dead, introduced her kick-ass, can-do protagonist, park ranger Cal Nyx. It was released in 2020 by Bloodhound Books UK and was shortlisted for Best First Novel in the 2021 Ngaio Marsh Awards. Her second-in-series Cal Nyx mystery, The Quarry, was published under the Spiral Collectives imprint in 2023 and was longlisted for the 2024 Ngaio Marsh Awards for Best Novel. The third Cal Nyx novel, The Freezer, was published in December 2024. A fourth is in the works. A standalone novel set in NZ, The Corrector, is due for publication in 2025.
