Kim Miller's first exposure to consulting was as a client in the late '80s while implementing JD Edwards software. She was so impressed with her consultant, that she recruited herself to work for JD Edwards as a consultant. She grew through the ranks as the company grew and assumed most every role on the consulting side of the business; starting as an Associate Consultant and progressing through to Project Manager, Practice Manager and finally, to Field Enablement. Kim's assignments included a variety of company sizes, industries, both with and without partner teams. As the budding technology evolved, and Y2K loomed closer, implementations became more complex and clients demanded a shorter time to value. Just a few years prior to the acquisitions by PeopleSoft and Oracle in the early 2000's, Kim became a Practice Manager and had consultants reporting to her. She employed the skills she learned as a consultant to guide and grow her consultant team through the challenges the acquisitions. This book explores the lessons Kim learned through her 20+ years in the technology industry and a lifetime of managing and showing horses in the hunters and equitation.
