LaBena Fleming was born in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in Ravenna, Ohio. She now lives happily in Richmond Heights, Ohio, with her husband, Michael. LaBena proudly earned her bachelor’s degree in human resources development from Notre Dame College of Ohio, followed by a master’s degree in education and educational administration from Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio. LaBena retired from her role as Provider Relations Manager and Community Outreach and Education Coordinator at Hospice of the Western Reserve, where she earned her Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) credential, in 2017. Retirement granted LaBena the privilege of caring for her mother, who had Alzheimer's and vascular dementia. Her nonfiction memoir, I Love You Always: One Family's Alzheimer's/Dementia Journey and the Lessons Learned Along the Way, was a #1 Amazon Bestseller and a 2021 Caregiver Friendly Award Winner. Her second book, Caregiver to Caregiver: A Scripture-Focused, Guided-Reflection Journal, was also a #1 Amazon Bestseller. LaBena is a devout Christian who believes we all have a responsibility to share the good news of Jesus Christ, which she is committed to doing through her writing. Her third book, and first children's book, "He Made It All, a Rhyming Creation Story," was inspired by God. The first of the "God Said Series," LaBena plans to follow with additional rhyming Bible stories to help children easily learn and remember God’s Word. She has been a guest on numerous podcasts and radio programs and is a featured AlzAuthor. LaBena truly loves spending quality time with her husband, daughters, and granddaughter. She also enjoys engaging in activities like public speaking, gardening, cooking, traveling, reading, and, of course, writing, which brings her great joy.
