Libby H.O'Connell is the author of The American Plate: A Culinary History in 100 Bites. She works at A+E Networks as the SVP of corporate social responsibility and the chief historian of the History Channel in New York City. She received her Ph.D. in American history from the University of Virginia after completing her undergraduate studies at Tufts University. Currently, she serves on the board of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation at Monticello and is a member of the "Kitchen Cabinet" at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. Emmy-award winning producer, educator, and historic preservationist, Libby enjoys reading, gardening, cooking, and long walks with friends whenever she can scramble up some free time. Her two adult children have far flung adventures but remain intrinsically woven into her daily life. Libby and her husband live in an old rambling farmhouse on Long Island with their two ridiculous dogs, Penelope and Zephyr.
