Lira Brannon is an award winning author with a wide range of eclectic tastes. Currently serving as Secretary of Northeast Texas Writers' Organization (NETWO), she is also a member of The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and belongs to several critique groups. When she is not writing books, she works on short stories. Several of these have placed first in Lone Star Writer's Workshop's first ever quarterly contest, first place in NETWO's 2013 and 2015 Short Story contests, first place Red River Writers Guild Short Story 2015 contest, and first in the 2015 Tyler Rose City Comic Con Short Story Contest and second in a non-fiction contest. Other publications, (both online and print) include articles and stories in PKA's Advocate, Rainbow Rumpus, Toot'n Towns USA, Nature's Friend, and Skipping Stones. She loves NANOWRIMO and has finished her 50,000 words 2 years in a row. Current projects include a steampunk adventure and the second book in the paraplegic athlete series.
