She grew up in rural Illinois where she was Captain of her high school Speech Team, President of the Drama Club, and occasional Mathlete. She graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a BA in Film/Video. After college, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film, but ended up in TV.
